An early visit Sunday morning in pleasant conditions produced 2 Mute Swan, 2 Tufted Duck (107), 5 Stock Dove, 2 Cuckoo, 3 Moorhen, 1 Coot, 2 Common Tern, 14 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Common Buzzard, 3 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 1 Ring necked Parakeet, 2 Raven, 5 Skylark, 8 Sedge Warbler, 12 Reed Warbler, 10 Swallow, 3 Chiffchaff, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 5 Long tailed Tit, 3 Blackcap, 1 Lesser Whitethroat (108), 10 Whitethroat, 3 Song Thrush, 4 Yellow Wagtail, c40 Linnet, 2 Yellowhammer and 7 Reed Bunting.
I had another one of my early morning visits in the hope of finding a Golden Oriole and on my second lap of the campsite at 05:45, I could hear the fluty call of a Golden Oriole (109) singing. It sang for c20 minutes where despite looking, I could not see it at all even though it was singing pretty close above me. What a bird to have on the patch again. It really does not get much better than finding one of these.

  1. It doesn't get much better than to find a Golden Oriole, even if you didn't actually see the bird. I've turned that sickly green again, and it's all down to you Marc.

    Regards....Pete.

    1. It certainly doesn't. This has to be one of the best birds to find on a patch. Pure gold!! Take care.
