I spent a few hours on Saturday in beautiful sunny conditions which although very nice to wander around in, was just too clear to get any movement of birds flying over. Birds of note included 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 3 Jay, 4 Skylark, 5 Swallow, 8 Chiffchaff, 15 Long tailed Tit, 1 Blackcap, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Whinchat, 7 Stonechat and 1 Grey Wagtail,  'Nocmig' recording on a few nights produced Tawny and  Barn Owls along with Gadwall and a few more Redwing calls heard. The two surprises recorded during the night included Brent Goose (Geese) migrating overland and only the 2nd ever Grey Plover heard, the first also seen this year. With the campsite mostly closed now to campers except a few at the weekend, I will soon be setting up my feeding station to see what species I can get in over the winter. I'm still relatively confident that another species can be added to the year list at night if I keep recording weather permitting.

Looking forward to seeing what your feeding station might come up with this winter.

    1. Many thanks Richard. A rare chance to actually get a lens on one. Maybe a winter project to see whether I can better it. Take care.
