A kind of frustrating week really with 'nocmig' recording taking place every night and although not a great deal of species, I did have 2 flocks of Brent Geese over and another flock of Common Scoter. Other birds recorded were Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Little Grebe and Water Rail. Badger and Beaver cam were also deployed every night last week with a few Badgers caught on the camera but not a Beaver to be seen.

I will persevere on both counts and see whether I can get some better footage at all. On Saturday in lovely sunny conditions but chilly from 05:30, I noted 2 Greylag Geese, 2 Gadwall, 1 Water Rail, 1 Coot, 2 Lesser Black backed Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, 4 Common Buzzard, 3 Great spotted Woodpecker, 3 Green Woodpecker, 3 Kestrel, 1 Jay, 7 Skylark, 12 Chiffchaff, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 1 female  Blackcap (92) 1 Treecreeper, 3 Stonechat including a singing male which showed a large white collar and large white wing patches, 1 Brambling, 11 Linnet, 2 Yellowhammer and 10 Reed Bunting. This morning was sunny and chilly but with quite a strong wind. Birds noted included 1 Water Rail, 2 Coot, 1 Common Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 2 Skylark, 1 Willow Warbler (93) feeding in a sheltered sunny spot, 6 Chiffchaff, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Long tailed Tit, 2 Redwing, 3 Stonechat, 2 Meadow Pipit, 8 Linnet and 5 Reed Bunting. I did have a while this morning photographing the Stonechats so will probably post a few of these shots later in the week.

  1. Super images - every one, Marc, and in beautiful light too. Haven't seen our female Blackcap in the garden for a couple of days now, and hope it was not taken by a Sparrowhawk like our male Bullfinch was.

Best wishes - take good care - - - Richard

    1. Many thanks Richard. Nice to be ble to get a few birds on the camera. It can be a tricky place for photos. A nice feeling knowing the birds are arriving back to our shores. Take care.
