My 100th visit of the year to the Nethergong area yesterday (Saturday). I arrived at 7am and spent a few hours walking around a very cloudy and increasingly windy patch. Birds noted included c84 Greylag Geese seen flying north from the Stour Valley early morning, c40 Pink footed Geese seen distantly flying south between Nethergong and Sarre, 41 Mute Swans out in the fields which I hope may attract a 'wild' Swan throughout the winter period, 2 Pheasant, c30 Stock Dove, 12 Woodpigeon, 1 Collored Dove, 14 Moorhen, 5 Snipe out in the flooded fields, 25 Black headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 17 Herring Gull, 2 Great Black backed Gull, 86 Cormorant, 1 Cattle Egret seen flying over the main lake, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 2 Magpie, 17 Jackdaw, 103 Rook, 4 Carrion Crow, 2 Skylark, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Long tailed Tit, c55 Starling, 2 Redwing, 5 Fieldfare, 4 Stonechat, 1 Pied Wagtail, 14 Meadow Pipit, 7 Chaffinch, 1 goldfinch and 1 Yellowhammer.
