I spent a few hours walking around Nethergong early this morning where I noted 47 species in calm conditions. Birds of note included 1 Little Owl, 5 Blackcap, 2 Cuckoo, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 3 Pheasant, 2 Yellowhammer, 5 Whitethroat, 1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Stock Dove, c40 Mallard, 1 Jay, 1 Mistle Thrush and 2 Reed Warbler. There were 3 Mute Swan, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Grasshopper Warber still 'reeling', 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Nightingale, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Skylark, 3 Swallow, 1 Grey Heron and it was pleasing to see and hear 2 Turtle Dove 'purring' with one showing briefly for a few distant photos.

    1. Many thanks Bob. I don't think many people will be seeing them if the shooting of this species continues.

  2. Definitely a few birds in that list that I'm rather envious of, Marc! Not seen a Turtle Dove this year and I know how exciting it is when you suddenly see one in the open! Fantastic to get the photos too.

    1. Not the best photos but the first I have managed at this site so a starting point for me to work from.
