I spent a couple of hours at Nethergong yesterday and today where I hoped a few birds would be moving around due to the freezing conditions. Whilst there were a few Snipe, Lapwing and 4 Golden Plover, I was hoping for maybe a few more duck and the odd wader moving through. Despite a good search, none were seen on this occasion but i'm hopeful that if I keep visiting during these conditions, that a good bird may just pass through. Birds of note yesterday included 1 Woodcock, 25 Lapwing, 7 Teal, 1 Marsh Harrier, 15 Meadow Pipit, 10 Common Gull, 1 Green Sandpiper (67) and 1 Kingfisher while today produced 3 Great spotted Woodpecker, 12 Snipe, 2 Marsh Harrier, 15 Snipe (68) 1 Common Buzzard, 4 Golden Plover, 2 Stonechat which provided me with a few photos, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Little Egret (69), 46 Fieldfare, 2 Grey Heron, c30 Meadow Pipit, 1 Sparrowhawk, 6 Common Gull, 47 Lapwing, 3 Woodcock, 1 Reed Bunting and 1 Kingfisher showed nicely along one of the streams briefly.

  1. Fabulous, Marc! Although that 2nd Kingfisher shot is my favourite, they are all wonderful - and I never could resist a Stonechat!

    Best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard
