The past few days have seen two visits to Nethergong early morning where I have managed to see about 50 species each time. Birds of note on the 14th included 8 Chiffchaff, 2 Sand Martin, 1 Yellowhammer, 13 Whitethroat, 6 Tufted Duck (5 duckling), 4 Kestrel, 2 House Martin, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Peregrine, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Greenfinch, 5 Willow Warbler, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Reed Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Green Sandpiper and 1 Common Buzzard. A visit this morning between 6am - 9:30am produced 1 Blackcap, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Common Sandpiper at the lake briefly before flying off south calling, 7 Reed Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Grasshopper Warbler (117) seen briefly in a bush with other warblers where after waiting patiently, I was able to get a few images. There were 3 Kestrel, 3 Yellowhammer, 4 Whitethroat, 6 Tufted Duck (5 duckling), 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Treecreeper and 2 Bullfinch. Nocturnal recording still continues to be very quiet with not a lot moving but a few nights ago I did record 2 Tawny Owls calling and 2 Raven passing over early morning.

How wonderful to see a Grasshopper Warbler, Marc, and even more wonderful to actually have it pose for a few good shots! I have only managed to photograph this species once and that too was at a dragonfly hot-spot - Strumpshaw Fen in Norfolk, two years ago.
