A rather wet trip Saturday morning from 07:00 produced 42 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 2 Jay, c50 Rook, 2 Raven, 10 Skylark, 3 Swallow west, 1 Chiffchaff, 10 Long tailed Tit, 1 Goldcrest, c750 Starling, 1 Stonechat, 1 Meadow Pipit, 49 Chaffinch, 1 Bullfinch, 2 Greenfinch, 23 Linnet, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Corn Bunting and 1 Reed Bunting. I had a good walk around the area this morning, checking out a few new sites that I don't often walk to in the hope a few birds might be located during the winter months. In an increasing strong wind which made birding quite challenging, I noted 11 Greylag Geese, 20 Mute Swan, c200 Stock Dove, 9 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Little Owl, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 1 Merlin zipping low south through the fields, 1 Peregrine, 1 Ring necked Parakeet, 2 Jay, 147 Rook, 11 Skylark, 28 Swallow west, 3 House Martin west, 2 Chiffchaff, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 3 Goldcrest, c600 Starling, 2 Mistle Thrush, 8 Song Thrush, 6 Stonechat, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pied Wagtail, 15 Chaffinch, 4 Greenfinch, 3 Linnet, 5 Goldfinch, 5 Corn Bunting and 4 Reed Bunting. Nocmig recording Friday and Saturday night again proved very quiet with Grey Partridge, Little Owl and a few Redwing calls heard.
