A visit Saturday morning in still pleasant conditions from 06:30 produced 2 Little Owl which showed well in silhouette calling to each other. there were 8 Gadwall, 90 Black headed Gull, c228 Herring Gull, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 1 Jay, 59 Rook, 2 Raven, 1 Skylark, 1 Swallow, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Mistle Thrush, 5 Redwing, 5 Stonechat, 5 Meadow Pipit, 1 Brambling, c80 Linnet, 7 Goldfinch and 3 Reed Bunting. Nocmig recording Friday night produced 1 Water Rail over calling, 1 Little Owl, 1 Barn Owl and c40 Redwing calls. Another visit Sunday morning from 06:40 produced 20 Mute Swan, 161 Black headed Gull, 4 Common Gull, c350 Herring Gull, 1 Lesser Black backed Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 35 Cormorant, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Little Owl, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 4 Jay, 46 Rook, 11 Skylark, 2 Chiffchaff, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 6 Goldcrest, 2 Firecrest, 1 Treecreeper, 2 Mistle Thrush, 6 Stonechat, c70 Chaffinch, c35 Linnet, 18 Corn Bunting (scarce in the area) and 6 Reed Bunting.

  1. A good haul for a couple of weekend visits Marc, including Stonechats. About which if I may, was it a count of 11 Stonechats in total, and are they migrants?

    1. The Stonechats were duplicates I expect on different days. still plugging away in the hope a few birds turn up. Heavens knows what I miss in the week when I'm at work. take care.
