A visit Saturday morning early proved negative again on finding a singing Golden Oriole but I will try a few more early morning over the next week just in case I get lucky. Birds noted walking around the area included 4 Mute Swan, 3 Cuckoo, 5 Moorhen, 1 Coot, 3 Lapwing, 2 Lesser Black backed Gull, 2 Common Tern, 15 Cormorant, 1 Bittern heard booming early morning from the Stour Valley, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 1 Hobby, 1 Jay, 1 Raven, 4 Skylark, 4 Sedge Warbler, 11 Reed Warbler, 2 Swallow, 5 Chiffchaff, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Long tailed Tit, 4 Blackcap, 2 Garden Warbler, 5 Whitethroat, 1 Mistle Thrush, 3 Yellow Wagtail and 4 Reed Bunting. A surprise Nightingale (106) was sound recorded on the night of the 10th May.

Thought you might be interested Marc. The Common Terns are back on Conder Pool (20 April) in North Lancashire, hopefully to breed here for their 11th year.
