I called out early to collect my recorder from Nethergong where I saw a hunting Barn Owl. I also recorded a few Barn Owl calls during the night as well as a calling Tawny Owl. I returned about 9am where I had a wander around the area in sunny, warm conditions with a light wind. Birds noted included 4 Mute Swan, 1 Pheasant, 1 Stock Dove, 9 Moorhen, c35 Black headed Gull, 2 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Common Buzzard, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 1 Jay, c42 Rook, c15 Jackdaw, 1 Sedge Warbler, 2 Reed Warbler, 2 Sand Martin, 6 Swallow, 8 Chiffchaff, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Long tailed Tit, 2 Blackcap, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Whitethroat, 1 Firecrest singing, 1 Treecreeper, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Whinchat (114), 1 Chaffinch, 2 Bullfinch, 5 Linnet, 4 Goldfinch and 3 Reed Bunting.
