With quite light winds during the past week I have been recording on a few nights where a few birds were noted included  1 Whimbrel, 1 Common Sandpiper, a flock of Ringed Plover and a Tawny Owl on the 6th September and on the 11th September, a Tree Pipit (126) was heard calling early morning, only the second record here in six years and a real bonus bird to get inland. A visit on Saturday from 08:30 produced 2 Kingfisher, 5 Kestrel, 2 Jay, 57 Swallow, 3 House Martin, 1 Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcap, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 5 Whinchat, 2 Stonechat (juvenile), 3 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Bullfinch and 4 Yellowhammer and a brief trip yesterday from 06:00 for ninety minutes produced 1 Peregrine, 2 Raven, 1 Redstart, 1 Grey Wagtail and 1 Yellowhammer. The year list now stands at 126 species, 5 more than the best ever year last year and with Goldcrest still to get and who knows what else could be seen or recorded during the night, maybe a total nearer 130 species could actually be achievable.

  1. No comment on the sound recordings, Marc as I'm not into such things, but pleased to see that you're having a really good year with the number of bird species in your list.

With regard to the ability to comment on blogs, I'm not sure how confortable you are with computers and the like. I too have had trouble but found that if it tries to make me comment as 'anonymous' there's a pull-down menyu that lets you choose 'Google Account'. Sometimes, however, when I click on the comment bar nothing happens, and I find that if I then click on the F12 key on the keyboard and go back to the the comment bar, it all opens up nicely.

Best wishes, stay safe - - - Richard

    1. Many thanks Richard. it's been a really good year here and with a few months left to go, I'm hopeful of a few more species and you never know, maybe a 'bonus' bird too. Take care.
