After making a few adjustments on Saturday to the feeding station, I  spent a couple of hours in the hide seeing what would visit. The birds are still getting used to it but I did have Blue, Great and Long tailed Tit visit along with Goldcrest, Wren, Robin, Chaffinch and a Great spotted Woodpecker. A few pleasing shots were taken and the setting has not worked out too bad. Hopefully with time a few other species will arrive for some photos during the winter. A couple of Jays had a brief look but never managed to land. All in good time I hope. A walk around on Sunday morning early produced the Common Crane flying in to land in fields at 7am. Also with the low cloud and rain produced 3 Stonechat, 5 Grey Partridge, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 12 Siskin, 1 Lesser Redpoll, c800 Chaffinch west, c40 Fieldfare and c80 Redwing.

  1. So pleased to see that your set-up is starting to work well, Marc. These might be mainly common birds, but your superb photography gives a great reminder of just how special the common birds are - thank you.

    1. Many thanks Richard. After all the rushing around throughout the year on site, it's nice now the site is quiet to just sit and watch the birds sometimes. Looking forward to a few winter sessions with a warm flask of hot chocolate whilst sat in the hide. Take care.
