A few visits in the past few weeks have generally been quite quiet as is normal at this time of year but always something to see though with the chance of something good always a possibility. Birds seen have included 3 Mediterranean Gull in the newly ploughed fields, 1 Teal, 1 Barn Owl, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Hobby, 5 Blackcap, 10 Whitethroat, 1 Mistle Thrush, 2 Bullfinch, 5 Greenfinch, 18 Linnet and 5 Yellowhammer. The 28th produced 5 Grey Partridge which were flushed which quite possibly included some juveniles, c100 Herring Gull, 7 Common Tern, 1 Peregrine, 15 Swallow, 4 Stonechat which included 2 juvenile birds, 34 Linnet, 3 Yellowhammer and 10 Reed Bunting. Today produced 5 Turtle Dove, a three and a two which may well have included a juvenile or two but they were only seen flying away from me. There were 2 Swift, 2 Common Tern, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Kestrel, 4 Sand Martin, c40 Swallow, 1 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff, 5 Cetti's Warbler, 5 Blackcap, 9 Whitethroat, 2 Stonechat, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Bullfinch, 3 Yellowhammer and 10 Reed Bunting. 'Nocmig' recording at night continues to be worryingly quiet but with wader migration now underway, I'm hopeful of something flying over soon providing the weather allows me to record. It was nice to record both Raven and Carrion Crow calling this morning prior to me collecting the recorder at 05:45.
Raven and Carrion Crow
Cracking shots of the Yellowhammer, Marc. They used to be quite common in my area, but it's not easy to find one these days.

Many thanks Richard. Always a treat to see and hear them. Knowing how scarce they have become, I really do not take them for granted. Take care.
DeleteLovely bird the Yellowhammer. Great photos.
