I made two visits to Nethergong yesterday (05:30 - 09:00 and 10:30 - 15:00) I managed to see or hear 60 species and had a good wander around all the patch where I managed to see 108 Mallard, 1 Golden Plover heard, 2 Whinchat (116) were in the company of 4 Stonechat (2 juvenile). There were 9 Lesser Black backed Gull, 80 Herring Gull, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Hobby, 1 Peregrine, 2 Jay and 1 Skylark. I picked up 2 waders flying north and managed to take a few rushed shots. They turned out to be 1 Greenshank (117) and 1 Ruff (118), the latter being a new species for the patch. Also seen were 8 Sedge Warbler, 4 Reed Warbler, 5 Swallow, 15 Willow Warbler, 5 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Blackcap, 4 Whitethroat, 1 Treecreeper, 6 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Spotted Flycatcher (119) showing well in the 'Flycatcher tree', 1 Lesser Whitethroat (120), 3 Yellowhammer and 14 Reed Bunting. A walk around this morning 300 Herring Gull, 10 Lesser Black backed Gull, 3 Common Tern, 1 Peregrine, 1 Raven, 15 Swallow, 8 Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 6 Blackcap, 1 Garden Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 7 Whitethroat, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Whinchat, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Bullfinch, 5 Yellowhammer and 16 Reed Bunting. 'Nocmig' recording last night only produced a calling Oystercatcher.
That's a real warbler-fest, Marc. Well done! I don't have much luck with warblers, photographically or ID wise!
