Nethergong Birding

I spent most of the day in the Nethergong area, starting at 7am until midday and then another hour from 14:30 overlooking Chislet Marshes. I managed to see or hear 59 species which included 2 Woodcock into roost at 07:10, 2 Raven, c60 Mute Swan, 10 Bewick's Swans were seen in flight appearing to take off from a pool near Sarre where they flew off towards Reculver. Their smaller size, shorter necked appearance and faster wingbeats noted. There were c400 Stock Dove, 1 Water Rail, 2 Coot, c40 Lapwing seen distantly in flight, 2 Snipe, c60 Black headed Gull, 1 adult winter Mediterranean Gull in fields with other gulls, c80 Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black backed Gull, 567 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Common Buzzard, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 1 Jay, 2, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 12 Long tailed Tit, 1 Goldcrest, 19 Redwing, 84 Fieldfare, 4 Stonechat, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Bullfinch, 8 Greenfinch, c35 Linnet, 1 Yellowhammer and 5 Reed Bunting.
