A couple of sessions over the Bank Holiday weekend at Nethergong where there were many campers on site for the first time this year. Birding Saturday early morning produced 2 Greylag Geese, 1 Turtle Dove (116) seen in flight flying through the area, 4 Cuckoo, 2 Swift, 1 Bittern heard booming early morning still, 4 Marsh Harrier, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 3 Hobby, 1 Raven, 2 Skylark, 3 Sedge Warbler, 22 Reed Warbler, 4 Swallow, 7 Chiffchaff, 6 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Common Tern (117) seen distantly flying towards Stodmarsh, 5 Blackcap, 10 Whitethroat, 2 Stonechat, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Yellowhammer and 5 Reed Bunting. Sunday morning produced 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Cuckoo, 2 Mediterranean Gull east, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 1 Skylark, 7 Sedge Warbler, 6 Reed Warbler, 3 Swallow, 4 Chiffchaff, 6 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Blackcap, 4 Whitethroat, 1 Stonechat and 7 Reed Bunting. A visit early evening on Friday night produced 2 Short eared Owl hunting the fields. Also 2 Grey Partridge seen. 'Nocmig' recording is still not producing any movement at all but I hope If I keep trying on calm evenings, that eventually I will get something over.

  1. Brilliant pik of the SEO as is to be expected from you Marc. I've turned a sickly green colour at your Turtle Dove sighting, extinct in our area and never seen one in my life believe or not.
