I spent another weekend visiting Nethergong on both Saturday and Sunday morning where I birded the site from 5:30am till about 11am. Birds noted on Saturday when it was mild, cloudy but quite still produced 2 Tawny Owl (58), Greylag Geese (59) could be heard leaving the Stour Valley, 3 Coot, 1 Snipe, 1 Barn Owl, 2 Grey Heron, 24 Mute Swan, 19 Cormorant, 7 Gadwall, 1 Wigeon (60), 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Fieldfare but still no sign of any Redwing, 1 Kingfisher (61) called but went unseen along the stream, 1 Kestrel, 2 Bullfinch, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Mistle Thrush, 5 Yellowhammer, 4 Stonechat, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Goldcrest and 1 Treecreeper. This morning produced 1 Tawny Owl, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Kingfisher, 50 Cormorant, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Common Buzzard, 5 Fieldfare, 3 Coot, 2 Great spotted Woodpecker, a skein of 34 Greylag Geese flew towards Grove Ferry with 2 others a while later, 2 Jay, 2 Reed Bunting (62), 1 Peregrine unsuccessfully chasing Woodpigeons, 2 Treecreeper, 1 Mistle Thrush, 2 Greenfinch and 3 Yellowhammer.

    1. Many thanks Bob. Photo opportunities are quite hard at times to get on site so most be just be record shots. All adds to build up the picture though at what appears on this site.
