Another cycle down to Nethergong this morning at 8am where in quite cloudy conditions for most of the visit, I walked around the site enjoying the birds that I found. Birds noted included 2 singing Chiffchaff, 5 Stock Dove, 1 Goldcrest, 5 Yellowhammer, 3 Mistle Thrush, 3 Pheasant, 1 Stonechat, 2 Great White Egret seen in flight from the East gate. There were 3 Reed Bunting, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Jay, 1 Coot, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Treecreeper, 3 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk, 2 Raven, 1 Peregrine, 1 Little Egret and 3 Skylark. In a brief warm sunny spell there were 14 Common Buzzard up in the air together, also 6 Linnet, c70 Redwing, 5 Meadow Pipit, 37 Mute Swan, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Siskin (80) flew west calling, 2 Green Woodpecker, c35 Fieldfare and 1 Marsh Harrier. A night recording produced Tawny Owl, lots of Redwing calls and a migrating Water Rail.
