A couple of visits to Nethergong this weekend in contrasting weather conditions. Saturday was very cloudy and dull whereas this morning was bright blue skies and no wind which made for a nice visit. I managed to note 42 species Saturday morning which included 3 Blackcap, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 3 Chiffchaff, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 8 Bullfinch, 3 Jay, 2 Kestrel, 5 Whinchat, 2 Common Buzzard, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Grey Wagtail north, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Tufted Duck and 3 Greenfinch. This morning in better conditions I managed to see or hear 48 species. Birds of note included 3 Common Buzzard, 4 Blackcap, c150 Swallow on wires, 1 Green Woodpecker, 12 Mistle Thrush, 6 Chiffchaff, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 11 Long tailed Tit, c21 Linnet, 3 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Treecreeper, 6 Whinchat, 2 Yellowhammer, 8 Whitethroat, 3 Reed Warbler, 1 Golden Plover north, 3 Jay, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Tufted Duck and 1 Pied Wagtail. Recording Saturday night only produced a calling female Tawny Owl.
